Welcome!
Henderson County
Located on a scenic mountain plateau 2,200 feet
above sea level,
Hendersonville lies cradled between the Great Smoky Mountains and the
Blue Ridge Mountains. Hendersonville is famous as "The City of Four
Seasons," a name given some 40 years ago by local weather expert,
Kermit Edney. Hendersonville is included in a new book, The
100 Best
Small Towns in America by Norman Crampton.
Henderson County is approximately
378 square miles in area with the
average temperature being 82 degrees in summer and 40 degrees in
winter. The average rainfall is 48 inches per year, generally
less than
four inches per month in October and November.
The economic base consists of a
well-balanced mix of industry,
agriculture (including the famous apple harvest), tourism and
retirement. Historic Downtown Hendersonville is a busy, vital part of
this town's civic, social, cultural and economic scene Downtown
Hendersonville received its Historic designation in March of 1988,
entering it in the National
Register of Historic Places.
